Metal dusts and use

Hi, Will the tape be hardened against metal dusts… I primarily want to use the tape in and around metal working equipment for the forging and fabrication industries.

Hi Blacksmith, we have a relatively abrasion resistant coating on the T1 Blade - we test it with a variety of dusts to ensure the the readings do not remove the coatings. In the event of inevitable wear over time, the blades are also fully replaceable now.

The T1 blade should exceed most tape measure blade coatings that you use now as a reference point as well.

more concerned about the iron/steel dust affecting the accuracy.

shouldn’t have any issue with accuracy as most of the encoding is done as most it is done optically and protected with a cover as well as wipers

I’m running an M1 caliber for cutting steel siding. The shards mess with the magnet so bad that accuracy can very by inches. Taking it apart and removing them after five cuts is not ideal. Am I to understand the T1 uses optics?

Hey Apollyon, yes that is correct, the T1 uses optics primarily to locate itself. It would be great to see your setup for cutting siding as well, we havent heard of metal shards causing issues but would be great to understand your application more.

The next time I’m on site I’m happy to throw a picture on here. I love it for my cut table when doing non ferrous metals and vinyls.
